TCC's No Recipe Grilled Shrimp
Submitted by The Cynical Cook
Another skewer recipe, created in a moment of near desperation that I would not have enough protein during a BBQ (a significantly overblown fear).
When asked whatthe recipe was later, I couldn't actually recall. After some trial and error, I think this is it.
It is staggeringly, depressingly easy.
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup JApanese Soy Sauce
- 2 tablespoons Mirin
- 2 tablespoons Honey
- Several shakes of Ground ginger
- Couple drops of rice wine vinegar
- 1 bag of Peeled shrimp
- Plastic ziplock bag
Method
- Add Soy sauce, mirin, honey and ginger into plastic bag. Zip up and shake until honey is dissolved.
- IMPORTANT STEP: Taste marinade. It should be sweet but not cloying. If it's not sweet, add more honey/mirin. This is essential so it caramelizes slightly.
- Put peeled shrimp into ziploc bag and compress to get all air out. Marinate for three hours.
- Skewer shrimp and grill on the barbie or underneath a hot broiler until they turn pink.
- Serve with beer.
