Submitted by purplemb
I got this recipe from a friend of the family, who used to deliver soda bread to us every St. Patty's Day.
Ingredients
- 3.5 cups flour
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tbs baking powder
- 1.5 cups buttermilk
- 1 cup raisins
- 3/4 tsp caraway seeds
- 1.5 cups buttermilk
- 2 beaten eggs
- 1 tbs butter, melted
Method
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Combine the dry ingredients in one bowl and the wet ingredients in another.
- Mix the wet ingredients with the dry.
- Pour into 8" or 9" round cake pan, greased/sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.
- Make a cross with flour across the top and trace through it with a butter knife.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes.
