Peanut Butter Brownies

Submitted by dotmom

I originally got this recipe from my sister, but I have no idea where she got it from.

They're a bit fussy, as far as brownies go, but they're worth it. Definitely a yummy treat to whip up for a special occasion.

Yield: 36 brownies

  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3 eggs
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • == Peanut Butter Filling ==
  • 6 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk

  1. Preheat oven to 350℉. Grease 13x9x2 baking pan.
  2. Combine all Peanut Butter Filling ingredients and beat until smooth and creamy, set aside.
  3. In a large bowl stir together melted butter, sugar and vanilla. Add eggs and beat well. Add cocoa and beat until well blended. Add flour, baking powder and salt, beat well. Stir in chocolate chips. Remove 1 cup batter and pour the rest into the greased baking pan.
  4. Spread the peanut butter filling over the brownie mixture. Drop reserved brownie batter by teaspoonfuls over filling. Using a knife, gently swirl for marbled effect. Bake 35-40 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out almost clean.
